Skin Needling
Skin Needling (or Microneedling) is one of the most versatile treatments we offer, effective across a wide range of skin concerns, suitable for all skin tones, and with minimal downtime.
At Gold Coast Dermatology Clinic, we perform two types: standard microneedling (you may be familiar with the brand name Dermapen) and microneedling with Radiofrequency (RF). Both are often called collagen induction treatments, because they work by creating controlled micro-injury beneath the skin's surface — triggering your skin's natural repair response and stimulating new collagen production. Think of it like pruning a tree: a little strategic cutting encourages stronger, healthier new growth.
INFINI by Lutronic - RF Microneedling
INFINI uses insulated microneedles and radio frequency to penetrate the skin and deliver thermal energy. This stimulates regeneration of collagen and elastin to improve skin texture.
The INFINI can be used on all skin types and patients have down time of only 1-2 days. A minimum of 3 treatments is usually required for optimal benefit. These should be spaced 3-4 weeks apart. Topical numbing cream is applied to the skin 1 hour prior to the procedure, to make your experience as comfortable as possible.

Infini allows radiofrequency (energy) to be delivered, via microneedles into the skin, creating heat which denatures (or damages) collagen, promoting regeneration and further stimulation of both collagen and elastin.
Traditional microneedles are able to stimulate some collagen regeneration, but usually these needling devices don’t reach the same depths as Infini (up to 3.5mm) and they don’t deliver the energy required to really make a noticeable change to your skin.

Straight after the procedure your skin is slightly swollen, red, has pin point bleeding and may feel a little bit tight. This continues for 3-5 days post procedure. It feels like you have had immediate collagen regeneration. Once the swelling settles, your skin returns to normal.
However... the skin is a dynamic structure, so over the course of the next 3 months, that damaged collagen starts to regenerate and you will notice a firmer skin texture, decrease in fine wrinkles and improvement in scarring.
3 or more treatments are recommended for best results. Some patients then have an annual top up.

Infini utilises insulated, gold plated, microneedles, which means that when the microneedles are inserted in to the skin, the energy bypasses the top layer (epidermis) where all your pigment cells (melanocytes) are. By skipping over the melanocytes, the risk of post inflammatory hyper pigmentation is minimised, making Infini by Lutronic a treatment that is suitable for all skin types.

Dermapen Microneedling
An often underestimated treatment, microneedling can offer a wide variety of benefits to the skin. The procedure involves passing tiny, sterile 'microneedles' over the surface of the skin, creating controlled damage to and microchannels.
This benefits the skin by triggering the skin's natural wound healing response, stimulating cellular turnover and increasing the production of collagen and keratinocytes. The microchannels allow the application of topical products to penetrate the skin in a more superior manner.
The treatment is suitable for a wide range of skin concerns, acne scarring and textural changes, textural skin changes, mild rejuvenation.
Microneedling can be performed by itself, but can also be layered with other treatments such as chemical peels, exosome application, laser genesis and Healite.

Despite the name this is a relatively comfortable procedure. There is a light 'tingle on the skin' but it is very well tolerated.

Your skin may be a little bit red after the procedure and there may be some pin point bleeding. This resolves in 24 hours and you will notice some light microcrusting.

Patients usually start with a pack of 3 – 6 treatments spaced 4 – 6 weeks apart. However, many people enjoy having microneedling as their long term skin maintenance treatment to help maintain skin texture and tone.

A full face of microneedling is $199. The Glow Needling Club is one of Gold Coast Dermatology Clinic’s most popular treatments. This is 6 sessions for $900 ($150 for a full face of needling). Add ons such as topical insulin, exosomes, chemical peels and laser genesis can then be purchased at a discounted rate, depending on what your skin would benefit from.
