Sciton Broadband Light

BBL may not technically be a laser, but with this amount of power, it may as well be. This device is so versatile and the results truly speak for themselves.

Dr Davidson treating a patient with Sciton BBL at Gold Coast Dermatology Clinic

The Sciton BBL works by harnessing and concentrating visible light, giving it the ability to treat - pigmentation, redness and vascular issues, signs of ageing, rosacea, acne… the list goes on.

By far our most popular treatment is BBL Corrective, to address irregularities in colour and tone, followed by BBL Forever Young, which speaks for itself. With minimal to no downtime, BBL is a well tolerated treatment with amazing results.

Specific conditions that Sciton BBL can treat:

  • Freckling

+ How many treatments will I require?

Usually 2-3 initial treatments are required and then we recommend maintenance therapy with twice yearly treatments.

+ How should I prepare for my appointment?

Avoid active sun exposure for 2–4 weeks prior to your treatment. This will give you a better outcome and decrease your risk of side effects such as burning or post inflammatory pigmentation.

We cannot treat patients with fake tan on, so please ensure it is 4 weeks since you last applied fake tan. Please remove all make up prior to your appointment.

+ What is the recovery period?

Your face or treated area will be red after your treatment and then for the next 1-2 days. Occasionally swelling is noted as well. You can wear makeup and you must wear suncream. Dark or pigmented areas will become enhanced so that they are more visible. The look like ‘coffee grounds’ on your skin. This happens within 1 week for facial treatments but takes 2-4 weeks for treatments off the face.

If blood vessels are being treated you may occasionally notice bruising or areas where blood vessels change colour.

+ When should I do my second treatment?

Your second treatment should be 4–6 weeks after your first.
