skin minimalism.
Committing to taking care of your skin is more than a night cream and a treatment every 5 years.

Minimalist skin treatments
What is a minimalist skin treatment?
Regular, low downtime, gentle collagen stimulating, pigment reducing and redness controlling treatments that help to gradually maintain and improve your skin health and repair sun damage.
An analogy I often give patients is the runner training for a marathon
You don’t train for a marathon for 6 months, run the marathon, stop training and then expect to still be able to run the same marathon in a years time. Your muscles need regular conditioning, maintenance and training to continue to carry you over the finish line. Well your skin is the same. You can’t expect to do one massive resurfacing treatment and expect pigment and sun spots not to creep back over time. Your skin is a dynamic structure, constantly changing and ageing, and on a daily basis it is fending off environmental toxins, pollution and UV radiation. So an effective (this can be simple) and consistent skin care plan plus minimalist skin treatments, will pay off in the long term, much like continuing to go for regular runs to maintain your peak physical fitness.
Assessing your areas of concern will direct your treatment plan….having said that, some people have no particular skin complaints, but they want to maintain their skin health, so low down time treatments are perfect.
Having a plan and realistic treatment goals is of paramount importance. Minimalist skin treatments are a ‘slow burn’, so you don’t see that ‘wow’ factor immediately. Stimulating collagen takes time and requires repeated treatments, but persistence pays and I truly believe that regular low grade treatments are superior for most people as opposed to aggressive resurfacing treatments.
With that in mind, some people do need an initial corrective treatment to clear more overt skin changes, but after this a long term maintenance plan will provide long term benefits
To give you some guidance on treatment that may be suitable for you, I’ve broken down some of our treatments into categories. These can be combined and alternated for skin with more than one concern (which is most people)
Redness and broken blood vessels - Mandelic Peels, Healite II, Cutera laser genesis or Vascular laser, BBL (broadband light) and Forever Young
Textural changes
- TCA (trichloracetic acid) Chemical peels, Coolpeel, Dermapen
Pigmentary concerns
- TCA Chemical peels, Cutera CoolView, BBL
General rejuvenation, collagen stimulation
- CoolPeel, BBL Forever Young, Dermapen, Infini Radiofrequency Microneedling
Acne and congestion
- Pumpkin peel, Salicyclic Acid Peel, Laser Genesis, BBL Forever Clear
No specific concerns, just wanting to stay fresh
- Laser genesis alternating with CoolPeel and the occasional TCA chemical peel
My skin
As a busy mum, business owner and clinical dermatologist, I am often asked what treatments and products I use…
My goals - pigment control and collagen stimulation, pore reduction (I am fair, freckly and a little bit acne prone for those who haven’t met me)
My treatments - CoolPeel, TCA peels, BBL - I rotate through these with Laser genesis in between
My skin care - We’re currently working on our own in clinic range, so I’m trialling (and loving) these….watch this space
Generally speaking though
Morning
Vitamin B3 serum
Gentle anti-oxidant moisturiser
Suncream - either Dermaceutic K-Ceutic or La roche Posay anthelios
Evening
Retinol (my skin is a bit too sensitive for prescription retinoids)
Hyaluronic and peptide infused night moisturiser
Activated eye cream
